Poris de Candelaria
Porís de Candelaria is one of the most magical and personal corners of La Palma. Hidden in the municipality of Tijarafe, it is a small fishing village that rises inside a natural cave about 50 meters high. Its characteristics white houses were built by the locals, who were looking for a break from the strenuous summer heat. It is currently inhabited by families who have their second residence there, seeking to connect with the sea and to get away from day-to-day stress. There's no internet here, no restaurants, and there's no even trash-throwing bin. The access, although not the simplest, offers various options: by car, on foot through a hiking route, or the suggestive arrival by sea from the port of Tazacorte, where the exploration of the coast reveals the majesty of this enclave. If you decide to start the route by car, the trip begins in Tijarafe, from where you take the LP-1 road. A steep and curved detour will guide you down, approaching the sea and the two parking areas of Porís de Candelaria. However, driving along this route requires caution due to the narrow and pronounced slopes. The most suggestive option may be to go by boat, offering a unique perspective on the rocky profile of the island and the opportunity to see whales and dolphins. From the Port of Tazacorte, several companies operate boat excursions leading to Porís de Candelaria passing through wonderful places like the Cave Bonita, the Cave Colorada or the beach of the Veta. .
