Taburiente boiler
Of volcanic origin, this huge depression flanked by large levels recalls the form of a crater or volcanic boiler. It has a circus of summits of 8 km in diameter and levels above 1500 meters. Its highest level is the Roque de los Muchachos, with 2,426 meters above sea level. Declared National Park in 1954, its ravines and heights welcome an extraordinary vegetation, with representatives of canarian endemisms. They highlight the rupicular plants, clinging to the verticality of the walls, species of the summits, saucedas and the canary pine. Among the fauna, birds and reptiles have subspecies of the island. The park's network of trails offers us the opportunity to enter an environment where the Taburiente stream, waterfalls, pinears and high peaks offer a unique landscape and biological diversity. The archaeological remains, especially those recorded in rock, called petroglyphs, abound inside the Caldera de Taburiente. The petreous monolites called roques, the result of the erosion of certain volcanic materials or avalanches, are highlighted. The Caldera de Taburiente National Park offers several possibilities for all trekking lovers. In addition to the entrance excursion to the Park by the Mirador de Los Brecitos and the subsequent exit by the ravine of the Angustias, the surroundings also include routes along the nearby Pino de la Virgen, through the recreational area of the Cumbita and even up the Bejenado peak and enjoy a unique panorama of the interior of the Caldera. For all those who do not want to do the whole tour, there is the option to visit the Park from the Mirador de la Cumbita, to which you can reach by car; or to enter and leave the Barranco de las Angustias itself. The entrance path to the Caldera de Taburiente is extensive and of a remarkable difficulty. The route goes from Los Brecitos to the camping area in the interior and then exit through the Las Angustias ravine. In any case, it is appropriate to wear adequate clothing and footwear, solar protection, food and fresh drinks. At the exit is the Lomo de los Caballos, where there is an information point and the parking area for those who make the route can leave your vehicle. .
