Agii Saranta Beach

Agii Saranta Beach
4.7

Agii Saranta is an impressive beach with amazing rocky landscapes, making it one of the best in Magnesia. The lack of housing in the surroundings does not make it an absolutely wild coast: the infrastructure here is developed to the highest level, from the provision of hammocks and umbrellas to a cozy restaurant on a hill. Agii Saranta impresses its incredibly clear sea waters, which have blue tones near the shore and, as the depth increases, acquire a more saturated dark blue color. The long coast in the picturesque bay of the beach is covered with white sand of very clean fine grain (as if it were flour), but sometimes there are also small pebbles and in the water, even large stones. In some places, the coastal cliffs (the most impressive one rises in the sea on the southern periphery) and a lot of stone slabs and rolling edges give the beach a really fantastic view. The central part of the coast with a large area of shallow water is the most suitable for recreation with young children. But you have to keep in mind that sometimes there are strong waves. There's a little chiringuito on the periphery. When you buy drinks on it, you can get a comfortable tumbone as an additional benefit. The beach of Agii Saranta is incredibly beautiful and does not go unnoticed for tourists. There's always a lot of vacationists here. It is better to arrive early to find a parking place available.

Chorefto Beach

Chorefto Beach

Khorefto (from the Greek means "dancer") owes its name to the waves, which, as it were, dance along the coast and fascinate with its beauty. The beach is quite long, covered with white sand and thick with fine, multicolor pebbles. The closer to the water there are more pebbles, the bottom is rocky. Because of this, the sea here is always transparent, of an amazing blue color. On the negative side, it is not very comfortable to play on the waves near the shore, which should be taken into account by tourists with children. The beach is equipped with everything you need, there are areas with umbrellas and loungers, there is enough space for "wild" recreation on towels and active games. There are children's and sports parks, volleyball network, inflatable trampoline. There's a lifeguard and a medical station. The transparent sea and many stones and cliffs attract diving and snorkeling lovers, and the presence of waves - surfers. You can also take a walk in water attractions and rent a boat for boat rides. Chorephto is surrounded by picturesque hills covered in a thick vegetation. Following the shaded path of the forest you can walk to the nearby beach of Agia Saranta, located a little to the right. There are a lot less people here and there are no rocks in the sea. It is very convenient to get to the beach by car, it is asphalted from the village of Zagora, from where an impressive view of the surrounding landscapes opens. Several free parking is provided along the beach, so there is enough space for all. Special attention should be paid to the relatively economic and very tasty local restaurants and taverns. Loungers are offered and drinks can be served on the beach.

Zagora is one of the most famous villages of Pelion, located 45 km east of Volos. Reminding us of its ancient past, in the area you can see numerous ruins of the famous kastro and a necropolis, which prove the existence of an ancient town. According to archaeologists, Zagora is the homeric city of Thaumicia or Thaumaka. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the town was an important shopping, craft and cultural center. The production and cultivation of silk was so important that many people in Zagora became rich and went abroad to find large commercial and industrial companies. Here, in the 17th century, was the first school in Pelion, as well as the School of Rigas, where was the famous Greek freedom fighter Rigas Feraios. The houses in Zagora are typically built according to the popular architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries, with decorated windows, carved wooden doors and Intels. Zagora is also famous for its diverse and succulent variety of fruits such as apples, endrines, plums, strawberries, pears and much more. One can visit there some really beautiful ancient churches with unique iconostasiums (Iconostasius: three-leaf biombo, adorned with sacred icons or images, which is placed in front of the altar in the Greek churches).
