Peninsula de Pelion

(Zagora · Thessaly)

Just 300 kilometres from Athens, there are intact landscapes and villages that remind us of the most remote of the islands Mountain up, the traveler will find huge virgin and broken forests. On the sea, large beaches, beautiful fishing villages and dream coves open. Pelion's a little bit of a hand-held about everything. This has, as a positive counterpart to the problem of isolation and remoteness, a plus of authenticity that reminds the more remote and less exploited islands of the Greek sea - here were shot much of the scenes of the film Mamma Mia. Pelion is a small paradise of forest-covered mountains. They say that from here came the wood to build the Argo, the ship that at the command of Jason, left for the Black Sea and the heights of the Caucasus in search of the Golden Vellocino. Jason himself was educated by the wise Quiron Centaur in the surroundings of the Pelion (he also had disciples of the fame of Achilles, Asclepius, Jenofonte, or Aeneas among many others).
