Dimini archaeological compound

Only 5.3 km from the city of Volos is Dimini, a prehistoric settlement that was formed in the late Bronze Age; excavations began in the early 20th century and continued until the 1970s and 1980s. Ceramics, figurines and jewels were discovered; to the south-east of the hill, where the neolithic remains covering an area of 250 ha are located, an important micenic settlement was discovered, which is believed to be the old city of Yolcos.
