Volos

(Volos · Thessaly)

About half way between Athens and Thessaloniki, located along the Pagasian Gulf, is the third most important port in Greece. Many tourists simply pass by, waiting to take a ferry to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos. In fact, there are no important attractions in Volos: apart from the ferries, the city does not live from tourism, but from trade and services and houses an important university. However, you can spend a few nice hours walking along the promenade, taking a look at the archaeological museum or reaching one of the beautiful beaches of the area to relax a little, including Kala Nera and Kato Lehonia.
