LAGO VALLE

VALLE DE LAGO (1,210) is a population centre within the Natural Park of Soyo, which is accessed by the local road, heading east, from POLA DE SOMIEDO (AS-227, K 39, Puente de San Martino-Puerto de Soyo), capital of the Council, of which is about 7.5 km. Its homestead is distributed in an elongated way, parallel to the Valle River, in four neighborhoods from west to east: Ribachuenga, La Quintana, the Valle and El Auteiru. Until very advanced in the 20th century, several houses with broom's teats were preserved in this place, as were the houses scattered by the different mallads of the municipality.

Undoubtedly, Sousas is the most striking and representative of its type in the Natural Park of Souro, both because of the uniqueness of its constructions and the location and ease of access to it. Its system is very primitive, perfectly adapted and in total accordance with the environment in which it is located: a large area of grass, surrounded by the Sousas stream, which spills its waters to the Souro River in the Pola, and some sources with pots, "a small construction of stone or hollow on a wall, at a level of soil, that is made at the foot of a fountain or of a stream to put the milk to cool, in a pot of mud (pot), so that it can climb the cream to the surface and be better separated" (General Dictionary of the Astoria). The brain is made up of about twelve pairs of circular-floor, small-scale, "unworked stone and false stone vault (llabanas), covered with stoppers (tepes) and grouped by couples, one for the shepherd and the other for young animals. They were used during the summer. The flocks, before they go up or down to the village, usually remain for some time in other lower and nearby brows, which have henil with dry grass reserves. The property is communal and is exploited by joint grazing.".
