Towers of Bologna

The twin towers of Garisenda and Asinelli are among the few that are preserved of the more than 100 that the city had in medieval times and, as you can imagine, have become another of the places to visit in Bologna. Of these two towers, which initially had defensive functions and were funded by rich families in Bologna, only the one in Asinelli is kept in good condition and is allowed to visit. Although the rise to its almost 98 meters and 498 steps is hard, we assure you that when you reach the top and see the incredible views of the city, you forget any kind of effort. The Garisenda Tower did not exceed 48 metres, as a part of it had to be demolished for the danger of collapse, although it has the great honor of having been cited by Dante Aligheri in the Divine Comedy.
