Elevated Acre

Elevated Acre
4.6

The Elevated Acre is a high garden hidden at the end of a few stairs. And we say hidden because it is not easy to find it by chance: from the street, it seems that the stairs will lead to one of the many skyscrapers that abound in this area. In fact, what awaits you in the end is a large high terrace in front of the East River, but protected by the high buildings that surround it. On the one hand, you will see a lawn area surrounded by a mini amphitheater, ideal to lie down to rest or eat a picnic on a spring day, or sit down for a warm coffee on a sunny winter day. On the other hand, you will find a garden and a wooden lookout overlooking the river and Brooklyn, full of banks that invite you to disconnect in a quiet environment. Because, if anything stands out from the Elevated Acre, it is the tranquility that is breathed here in contrast to the hustle that daily moves Wall Street and the Financial District. Here you can forget about New York's bustle, although at the Elevated Acre there is never complete silence: right across the East River and the dock from where the helicopter tours take off in New York, so every few minutes you will hear the engine roar and you will see them flying over the river before leaving in the direction of Houston.

Kesté Pizza & Wine

Kesté Pizza & Wine
4.6

Kesté Pizza & Wine is certainly one of the best pizzeries in New York. A fine and delicious pizza, made in wood oven, and its location, very close to the entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge, make it ideal as a place to go to eat after visiting Financial District and before crossing into Brooklyn. Considered in 2015 by TripAdvisor users as the third best pizzeria in the entire United States, Keste is located in a rather small place, so it is appropriate to go either soon or too late to eat or dinner. Its pizzas are magnificent and are made in wood oven, with a very suitable size for a person for what is usually New York, more or less the size of a normal flat dish, perhaps a little larger. Even during the meal they offer smaller pizzas, smaller than the flat dish, suitable to eat a person and not get out very full of the place. .

South Street Seaport Museum

South Street Seaport Museum
4.1

The South Street Seaport Museum celebrates the naval origin of New York. It reminds us that the city grew and was articulated around its port on South Street. From the old port are the streets of cobblestones, a block of historical stores (Schermerhorn Row), its docks and the ships of the Maritime Museum anchored in front of modern skyscrapers.

Fraunces Tavern

Fraunces Tavern
4.5

This beautiful federal-style building is one of the oldest in the city and contrasts, for its small size, next to the towers of the Financial District. It was built in 1719 and served as the residence of French merchant Etienne de Lancey until Samuel Fraunces acquired it in 1762 to make it a tavern. Here was an emotional farewell of George Washington to his officers in 1783, following the victory in the War of Independence. The building was acquired and restored in 1904 by the association "Children of the Revolution of the State of New York," after a serious threat of ruin and opened its doors in 1907. The ground floor has a restaurant that gives access to the museum located on the upper floors. Decorative elements, engravings, paintings and weapons of colonial times and revolution, in permanent and temporary exhibitions, form this historic museum.
