Irati forest

The Irati Forest is the second largest and best preserved hayedo- abetal in Europe, after the German Black Forest. An immense green spot of about 17,000 hectares that remains in almost virgin state. The Irati Forest is a natural treasure with great ecological value in which there are different protection figures, such as the natural reserves of Mendilatz and Tristuibartea and the integral reserve of Lizardoia. Tupid hayedos, pastures, fences and fresh waters paint a landscape of living colors that is transformed with each new season. A forest that will give you many sensations: the single encounter with nature, the wild rumor of water between beech and fir, the freshness of the Irati River or the Irabia reservoir, the hollow sound of the animals and the leaves fallen in the fall, the smell of the fruits of the forest and the softness of the grass blanket that covers this jewel of the Pyrenees. Take your camera and your mountain boots and walk through one of the bearded trails that go through the forest.
