Route through the bunkers

1. Home

Start of the route parking on the street.

2. Bunker

Bunker The gardens with cement cover and stones on foot of the area as camouflage and protection of gunner impacts.

3. Casamata

Casamata for two soldiers and a machine gun located in the pinar of the Navy sanatorium and restricted access. May to see from the sidewalk to the War Crow.

4. Bunker

A bunker for two soldiers and a machine gun located next to the Arroyo de Majaltobar in the War Cast (called for a fight that took place there in the War of Succession). At the top, a undermined area is seen, which makes you think about the impact of a projectile.

5. Bunker

The Veneros bunker. It is the highest and possibly one of the last to build the People's Army of the Republic, as its construction was completed in January or February 1939. In the front, the inscription "YEAR 1939" is recorded on the concrete with the reverse, a common practice at the time in some political propaganda media, such as banners.

6. Bunker

Bunker Majalcamacho. It is on the slope of La Peñota, next to the "top" forest track, above the train track. This casamata, belonging to the group of the four oldest bunkers, was probably exploited from within after the end of the conflict, as evidenced by the remains of the construction material in the surrounding area. The aim of this practice was to recover steel from the unexploded shells. It also lacks the back and ceiling. At about 10 m is the faldon of another also exploded casamata.

7. Bunker

Barranco de las Encinillas bunker. It is on the solana of Las Molineras and can be seen from the "top" forest track above the train track. This casamata was also exploited, as was the previous one, as can be seen by the concrete remains scattered around the area. The faldon is made of concrete and lacks the back. The roof, which is missing a part, is made up of cement and stones.

8. Casamata

Casamata the Encinillas. Located above the "top" forest track and on a granite boat on a private farm with restricted access. It is in a very good state of conservation because it was not flown and is not known. Through this, it has been possible to analyze the typology of the roof of these four constructions. It consists of a flat and tilted cover with the attachment of the trunks inside assisted by two iron beams that reinforce the roof. In the upper area it retains an iron bar that serves to hang the camouflage nets.

9. Bunker

Bunker La Moliner. It is on the Camino de Las Molineras, before the train road, on a private estate with retracted access. This casamata is located in a line in which there are a lot of trenches, highlighting the one that there are excavated in the rock, in good conservation, which gives access to the bunker. His forehead is melted in large fragments which can be observed scattered on the ground. However, the rear is in good condition. Its strategic situation is quite questionable, as it is not located in the middle of a hillside, as used to be done to make them not visible. In addition, it is behind the bunker of the Veneros, which makes it very exposed and lacks the element of surprise.

10. Bunker

Bünker Balcony de la Peñota. Located on Calle del Chopo, within a landscaped area of the urbanization Balcón de La Peñota that can be visited. Although it is painted with graffiti that reflects its appearance, it is kept in good condition and is of the same type of casamata from this front line, for two soldiers and a machine gun.

11. Bunker

Bunker Matamaillo. It is located inside a private estate with restricted access. It is seen from the road that goes up to the urbanization El Balcón de La Peñota and from the road below. In the vicinity of this bunker we can observe a whole network of war trenches. And to access the bunker must be done by a trench excavated in part on the rock. A undermined area can also be seen in the upper area as a result of the impact of a projectile.
