Santa María Restaurant

It is not easy to find a restaurant in which members of three generations of the same family live and work together in the kitchen; less easy is this combination if the youngest of the saga is titled by one of the most prestigious cooking schools in our Community; this is the case of the Santa Maria Restaurant in which the stoves Teresa and her son Paul are served and for which the grandmother, Eloisa, is seen. Paul is committed to the updating of the usual cooking recipes, enriching them and updating them with his contributions and knowledge of today's cuisine, while taking advantage of the long experience of his grandmother, Eloisa. The restaurant is 80 years old, and Santa María was the first food house in the village. Another incentive to approach Santa María de la Alameda is the natural environment because it is the town that is located at the highest altitude of the whole Community: 1420 m., in the heart of Sierra Oeste. The kitchen they make is traditional, but up-to-date, and they use original seasonal products from the region in their preparation. They offer entrances such as the "Revolconas Potatas," an outstanding specialty of the house; same as the "Home Croquetas" or "Boletus Edulis." In season, they prepare mushroom tasting menus. They also cook traditional peas like "White Jews." Highlights are the excellent red beef from the Aceña River Valley, the roast and the "Cabrito" chops. They offer fish dishes, according to market. With the incorporation of Pablo Barrera Benito, son of Teresa and Paul, entitled in kitchen and pastry, has already been noted in the good homemade desserts they prepare. The winery of the Restaurant Santa María is another of the riches that this house offers because Pablo Padre is a sumiller expert who has been dedicated to the wine trade for years, which supports the quality of the broths that have included in his letter, of excellent quality and good price.
