Carlos V Gate

Another of the best things to do in Viveiro is to cross the Charles V Gate, the best preserved and the main one to access the old walled medieval villa of Viveiro. Built in honor of Charles I of Spain and V of Germany, this silver-style door is made in silery and adorned with the shields of Galicia, Viveiro, the Imperial, four medallions and the bust of Charles V. In its back and protected by a wooden furnace, there is the image of San Roque, one of the two holy patterns of Viveiro.
