Carlos Bridge
The Charles Bridge is the most famous monument in Prague and connects the Old City (Staré Měfto) with the Small City (Malá Strana). With more than 500 meters long and 10 meters wide, the Charles Bridge had on its day 4 lanes destined for the carriage pass. It is currently pedestrian. The Charles Bridge is named after its creator, Charles IV, who put the first stone in 1357 to replace the Judith Bridge, which was destroyed by a flood. Along the bridge you will find 30 statues on both sides of the bridge, many of which are copies as the originals are found in the Prague National Museum and Vyšehrad and were built in the early 18th century. The first statue that was added in 1683 was that of San Juan Nepomuceno. Juan Nepomuceno was thrown into the river in 1393 by order of Wenceslao IV and in the 18th century he was sanctified. .
