Ponton de la Oliva - Carcavas
The CarcavasThe Chickpeas de Patones or Chickpeas de Valdepeñas de la Sierra are formations created by the erosion of water on the clay ground of the Ayllon saw. They are a hillside of clay that has suffered a strong effect of erosion by the rains and possibly by water outflows on that hillside. As a result, there have been Carcavas, that is deep ditches on the ground, so deep and so close that what is left standing are narrow and pointed reddish needles that form a spectacular landscape. |
ParkingJust cross the bridge at the bottom of the Ponton de la Oliva dam, on the right there is a land parking lot in which to park the car. |
DeviumFrom the restaurant La Chopera you take the road that starts to climb. But you don't have to go too far for her. After moving a few meters, a detour to the right appears towards an unasphalted red road. This is the direct way that leads to the cascades. |
![]() BifurcationThe path on the left is quite steep in its first half and being of clay terrain, you can slip if you don't go with attention. With this path you reach the top of the cascades, so you see them as "attached" in the landscape. The path on the right runs next to a stream and has less slope, with this path you see the gravel down. |
La Chopera RestaurantIt is a very cozy bar has terrace and living room, the food is homemade and stands out in the paellas, croquettes and desserts etc.... Near is the river lozoya and there are also the carvages. |
A route that is part of the lower area of the Ponton de la Oliva dam, and is entered into Las Carcavas, a unique landscape that does not leave indifferent.
