Beaches
Playa del PalmarConsidered one of the most virgins of the province of Cadiz is one of the best beaches in Andalusia. It is a beautiful and huge beach with fine and golden sand, 8 km, and an average width of 80 meters, with extraordinary conditions for surfing, bodyboarding, and different adventure sports. Its waters are very clean and shallow so they invite it to the bathroom and make it an ideal beach for children. Although there are no urbanizations there are many services such as small shops, as well as lifeguards, surveillance and cleaning services. You can also find outdoor parking. For its services and quality of its beach El Palmar has the Q of tourist quality granted by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality. |
Playa de CastilnovoLocated south of the beach of Bateles, after the River Salado, bordering the beach of El Palmar, in the municipal term of Vejer, is the beach of Castilnovo, one of the wildest to see in Conil. The name of this place is due to the watchtower that is located at the entrance, the Tower of Castilnovo, which served to see possible invasions from Africa. It is a virgin beach of about 2600 meters and a width of 180 meters, with fine golden sand and transparent waters, very little frequented by what is usually practiced nudism. In addition, the stretch that delimits with the Palmar, exactly between the bunker and the Torre de Castilnovo, is a gayfriendly beach. - Access to this beach is not good. It can be accessed by car by a dirt road, but it is not recommended as it is prohibited and could be fined. The best thing is to cross the new bridge over the River Salado, or access from the beach of El Palmar, leaving the car at the end of the road that is parallel to the Palmar. |
Playa de los BatelesThe beach of the Bateles is the most popular to see in Conil. As it is located very close to the historical center, specifically at the mouth of the Salado River that separates it from the beach of Castilnovo, it is widely frequented mainly by young people, many of whom practice the Surf Windsurf and Kitesurf. A nice urban beach, with a promenade, 850 meters long and 130 meters wide, with all the services, awarded with the blue flag, on which I am sure you will enjoy a magnificent beach day. |
Roche covesThe Roche coves, or Poniente coves, whose names are Cala del Faro, Cala Tio Juan Medina, Cala del Pato, Cala del Frailecillo, Cala del Aspero and Cala Encended, are located from the fishing port to the elitist Roche Urbanization. These are beautiful coves ideal to go to the days of wind as they are protected. That's right, on windy days they're usually massified. They are characterized by being coves that communicate with each other when the tide is down and being under impressive red cliffs of great beauty. To access them you will have to walk a path surrounded by wonderful pine trees, and a completely particular flora where juniper, palm, genist and jars grow. Then you will have to go down some stairs excavated in the rock that have rails, so access to them is nothing complicated. |
Playa de la FontanillaLa Fontanilla beach is certainly the best beach in Conil and is confirmed by its Environmental Certification 14.001 and the Q of Tourist Quality it has. That's right, tourists know, and that's why their occupation is high. In the high season they occupy its 1,200 meters long and 40 meters wide, but because of this wide extension it also does not involve agglomerations or agglomerations. La Fontanilla does have a promenade, which begins in the village of Conil. It has between moderate and windy, but without currents and shallow. This makes it an ideal place for families with children. It also has chiringuitas and hammocks, some of the most famous bars in Conil de la Frontera are there as the restaurant 'La Fontanilla', where to eat good fish and seafood. Watch out for the parking lot because as we said it is one of the most frequented by tourists and locals, better to arrive first thing in the morning. It has access for disabled people. |
Fountain del Gallo beachLike the rest is a natural beach, covered by a cliff and without a sea walk. It has an extension of 1,000 meters and 25 meters wide, being the last long beach of Conil (the rest and from here are coves direction Roche). Its occupation is medium and also has sand and moderate waves, making it a good place for surfing. It is easily accessible by car or on foot and has parking. Due to its abrupt cliffs and its sand, it is a perfect beach to walk at sunset in front of a beautiful natural picture. It usually saves the rising wind well, that's when the tide rises as soon as the beach is left. |
The most important places to see in Conil are its beaches, authentic havens of fine golden sand and transparent waters that are the main attraction, not the only one, of the town. That's right, when the famous Gaditan rise blows, being on these beaches can be annoying, so there are alternatives to spend a beach day outside the village and avoid the wind.
