Apulia beach
Integrated in the protected landscape area of the Litoral of Esposende, the beach of Apúlia has a huge arenal, surrounded by dunes that protect it from the strongest winds and on which the ancient windmills, transformed into holiday homes, still endure. Very visited during the summer, this beach has complete support infrastructure and is recommended by doctors for its iodine wealth. The abundance of algae is one of the most typical characteristics and has given rise to one of the most picturesque figures on the northern coast - the Sargaceiro de Apúlia, so called for the collection of the sargazo (name given to the algae), which was used as a fertilizer in the cultivated fields of the surrounding area.
