City park
The City Park, also known as the Városliget Park, is the main leisure place for the Aquinsians (the people of Budapest). Initially, like many other parks, it was a hunting site that used nobility for years. In the 18th and 19th centuries it gradually became the park that is today. With dimensions of 1,400 by 900 meters, the City Park is one of the first public parks to be created in the world. Within the park you will find several attractions, including the zoo, a small amusement park, the Széchenyi Spa and Vajdahunyad Castle. The Vajdahunyad Castle was initially built in wood for the Expo of 1896. At the end of the event it was rebuilt in stone. Its architecture is a copy of other buildings in Hungary. Inside the castle you will find an agricultural museum and a church, as beautiful as it is small. To guide you, except for the castle, the attractions are on the left side of the Heroes Square. In the City Park you will also find a lake where, depending on the time of the year you visit the city, you can either rent a boat, or skate on ice.
