Belvedere Palace
The Belvedere Palace (Schloss Belvedere) was built as a summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy. The whole is formed by two palaces united by a huge French garden. At the highest point of the garden is located the Alto Belvedere, the main building of the architectural complex that enjoys a more elaborate façade. The interior of the Belvedere disappoints visitors who expect to see a palace. Only the chapel, the entrance hall and the Marble Hall can be seen. The rest of the rooms, lack of decoration, show collections of painting from the Austrian Gallery, from the Middle Ages to the present day, as if it were only a museum. A smaller size and less striking façade than the Upper Belvedere, in the Bajo Belvedere building are the Austrian Baroque art exhibitions. Next to Bajo Belvedere is located the elegant building that was used as a greenhouse. Today it houses different temporary exhibitions. If you do not have too much time in the city, it is much more interesting to visit the Hofburg Palace and Schönbrunn, with a beautiful interior decoration. The Belvedere Palace is interesting to see on the outside and walk through its gardens, but its interior is not too palaciego. Visiting hours: Alto Belvedere: every day from 10: 00 to 18: 00.
