Ostia Antica Archaeological Park

Located 30 kilometres west of Rome, Ostia Antica was one of the most flourishing Roman cities thanks to its situation as an important shopping and harbour centre. When poverty and disease struck the city, it was seen in the abandonment and remained buried by the sand for several centuries. Thanks to this its conservation status is relatively good.
