Mazonovo Mill Museum
The largest museum of mills in Spain is located in Mazonovo, 400 metres from the village of Taramundi walking and 1 km by road. It has been placed in a place of unique beauty, on the banks of the rivers Cabreira and Turía, keeping a perfect tune with the environment. The ancient mills have been recovered, with the intention of making known utensils and ingenuity of our ancestors and the activities related to them; in which the visitor becomes the true protagonist of the museum, since most of the mills need their manipulation to put them into operation. But its restorators have gone even further and have installed a series of reproductions of mills, from the oldest known to today's, to see how the milling has evolved over time. Allies to these reproductions are a small box with wheat, so that the visitor can grind and check the effort of milling in ancient times. There are 19 mills in the museum: 8 manuals, 6 hydraulic, 3 children-specific and 2 special (these last two to natural size, but exposed in ideal conditions, for the compression of the different elements of these ingeniums). The visit to the museum is completed with an outdoor walk, vitrines of elements related to the mills and information panels.
