Monument to Empress Elisabeth

Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie, Duchess in Bavaria (also called Lisi, Sisi and Sissi), was born on 24 December 1837 in Munich and was killed on 10 September 1898 by an Italian anarchist in Geneva. She was a princess of the Wittelsbach Dynasty and after her marriage to Francis Joseph I in 1854 she was the Empress of Austria and since the 1867 Commitment also the Apostolic Queen of Hungary.
