Higashiyama-ku

Many of the people who travel to Japan are looking to meet the most authentic and traditional, they want to see Japanese-style wooden houses, roofed with typical lines, women and men dressed in a traditional way walking the streets, ancient temples... And, without a doubt, the best place to find all this is the Higashiyama neighborhood in Kyoto. This is one of the few areas that are conserved as before, not only in this city, but throughout Japan. The different wars, revolts, earthquakes and fires that the country has experienced throughout history have made much of the Japanese heritage not come to this day; but Higashiyama may presume to keep much of it intact. It is said that in the Second World War the American army did not bomb Kyoto because among the top commanders there was a lover of the city, who had gone on a honeymoon. True or not, the question is that Higashiyama has resisted the passage of time and is set up as an essential visit on any journey to Japan that is needed.
