Hallgrímskirkja
This gigantic Lutheran temple can be observed from almost any corner of the capital of Iceland, both for its dimensions and for its location, as it is located in one of the highest areas of Reikiavik. The most interesting way to access the Hallgrímskirkja is by walking the lively shopping street Skólavörðustigur, one of the arteries of the Icelandic capital. Its design is very peculiar, so it is highly recommended to take a long time to border the square and observe the Hallgrímskirkja from various perspectives. The cathedral began to be built in the 1940s, although its typical dimensions took three decades to complete it. Its design is the work of the Icelandic architect Guðjón Samúelsson and it is named after the Reverend Hallgrímur Pétursson. Some say it looks like a spaceship and others that are built with pieces of Lego, what is clear is that it leaves no one indifferent. In its interior everything is more sober, although they surprise its huge organ and marble arches. Just across the temple door there is an elevator that allows you to climb the 75 meters of the bell tower. You will find no better views of Reikiavik anywhere else in the city. The visiting hours are 9: 00 a. m. to 6: 00 p. m. Hallgrímskirkja, the spacecraft-shaped cathedral in Reikiavik. Unknown temple and one of the most recognizable images of the Icelandic capital.
