Cueva Pintada Museum and Archaeological ParkThe Cueva Pintada Museum and Archaeological Park is the result of more than 24 years of excavation and conservation work of a huge archaeological set. The museum building has been built on the remains of an Aboriginal canary village and is an exceptional testimony of the culture of the former inhabitants of the island, of the society prior to the arrival of Europeans in Gran Canaria and of the first years of colonization. The set offers the visitor the opportunity to know in detail the indigenous houses and caves, observing the excavation work from a large walkway around the village. All visits to the Gáldar Cave are guided. It is necessary to make an appointment in advance. You can arrange your visit by calling 928 895 746 or by purchasing your ticket through the service. com |

It was the first capital of Gran Canaria. This is because the first guanartemes or kings of the island decided to settle in Galdar or Agaldar there by 1483. The people maintain much of their ancient architecture, being of the few Canary cities that retain part of the pre-Hispanic heritage.
