Foz de Lumbier

It is an interesting cannon excavated by the Irati River in the limestone near the Sierra de Leyre. It is just over 1 km long, passing between almost vertical walls 150 to 400 m high. It is declared a natural reserve as protection of an important colony of rapacious birds in which the leonate vultures and alimoche stand out. In 1990, there was a confrontation between ETA and the Civil Guard, known as the "Faz de Lumbier" events, killing two ETA members and a benemerite sergeant.
