Forte de Santiago de Sesimbra
Located next to the Arenal, in the center of Sesimbra Bay, the Fortress of Santiago was built in the 17th century by order of D. João IV and is part of the defensive line of the bars of the rivers Duero, Tajo and Sado, being one of the most important defensive points on the coast of Arrábida. The military units of that time, such as the governor's residence and those of the garrison, the warehouse and the tanks, the chapel and the dungeons, remain in good state of conservation. Inside is a restaurant.
