Falasarna beach

This beautiful beach is in the west part of Cape Gramvousa, and in addition to its beauty, at the end of the beach we find the ruins of the old Roman city of Falassarna. Falassarna Bay is one of the most famous beaches in Crete, and has sometimes been awarded the title of the best beach in Crete, and one of the top 10 beaches in all of Europe. The long beaches of fine sand in this bay are unforgettable, a white sand that makes its waters acquire a crystalline, tropical color. In addition, if we are lucky that if the wind does not blow from the west (made strange in Crete), the sea has a spectacular turquoise color. The main beach of Falassarna is called Pinheia Ammos, 1 km long. This beach is attended by many people, as it is large and spacious. There are rental umbrellas and small bars where they sell food and water. We can even find beach volleytracks and practice water sports. There is another rather long beach to the north, 800 meters long, very similar to the main beach, and divided into small coves. This part has some areas with sand dunes, and some with rocks. It is much quieter than Pinheia Ammos, and does not offer bar service. Very close is the chapel of Agia Paraskevi and a fresh water source. If we move north, near the archaeological site, we find a small cove looking south, with thick sand, pebbles and rocks. It's a perfect option when the wind blows from the west, or if you're looking for privacy. We change course and return to the south of Pinheia Ammos, we have Livadi, another great sandy beach with some rocks in the water. It's a perfect area for snorkeling lovers. Livadi beach is surrounded by an important wetland with ponds, which in winter become home to numerous birds. Further south is the small port of Limeniskos, with a small pebble beach. Falassarna is a beautiful place, a natural protected area that will certainly surprise you. To give you a more romantic character, we recommend seeing the sunset, a unique experience, a moment of connection with the nature and beauty of the Crete Sea. If you are looking for more march, the beach of Falasarna hosts the best party of Crete on the first Saturday of August, where thousands of visitors come. If the first Saturday of August matches the first day of the month, the party will be moved on the 8th of August. One of the negative points of this beach is that it is facing west, and it is usually a beach with many waves, a feature that makes it perfect for windsurfing. .
