Sierra del Oso was born in 1991, but many years earlier the family already distilled the Orujo when it could be done freely without paying taxes or putting labels on the bottle. Sierra de Bear begins with the acquisition of two tar and the distillation of the grapes in the Yebas caterpillar, by making it with traditional methods. Through the Sierra del Oso brand, the company is quickly recognized for the excellent quality of its products and thus launches new product lines such as herbal liquors, honey, apple, coffee, In 1995, Orujo de Potes S.L. extended its facilities and moved its factory to the village of Ojdo, to the entrance of Potes, where it installed eight tar trees, eventually becoming the region's largest caterpillar producer. In 2007, it acquired vineyards in the region of Liébana and with the new harvest, it opened new facilities, which add to the 8 current tar, another 20 new, always of copper and maintaining the same traditional processes that have produced the most award-winning of Spain. Orujo de Potes S.L. is the company that produces the largest volume of caterpillar in Cantabria, marketing its products through the Sierra del Bear brand throughout Spain as well as in several international markets.
