Chiesa del Gesu
The Chiesa del Gesu emerged in the late 16th century to celebrate the arrival of the Jesuits in Sicily in 1564. The building underwent several changes over the centuries until the bombing of World War II completely damaged it. The restoration led the church to its original state, and was reopened in 2009. The facade is simple and austere, with a statue of the Virgin of the Cave of the 18th century, and contrasts with the interior an authentic Baroque style, full of marbles and splendid statues.
