Cathedral of Santa Ana

The Cathedral of Las Palmas, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Ana, rises with its two twin towers over the district of Vega, within the historic town of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This was the first church built in all the Canary Islands. It was lifted by order of the Catholic Kings after the conquest of the island of Gran Canaria. Its construction began in the 16th century, but was not completed until almost 4 centuries later, so several different architects and artists contributed to it, leaving as a result up to three different architectural styles: Gothic, Renaissance and neoclassical. In its interior, specifically on the south wing, it houses the diocesan Museum of Sacred Art, where valuable objects of sacred art, paintings and an important collection of Spanish sculptures are displayed. There is an elevator, located in one of its towers, which leads to the highest of the cathedral, from where for a price of only €1.50 you can enjoy a more impressive one over the city.
