Coffee of Druif
De Druif is a historic bar in a quiet location, far from the crowded tourist areas. It's one of the oldest pubs. The building dates from 1566. According to the city's files, De Druif obtained his liquor license in 1631. However, it has definitely existed for longer, because the Dutch naval hero Piet Hein wrote several times that it was his favorite place for the party: but he died in 1629. Fachada de De Druif seen from Kadijksplein In the past, De Druif used to be a distillery (Likeurstokerij), which is still seen inside the barrels of alcohol that cover the walls behind the bar, gas spider lamps and carpet-covered tables, which is so typical of a Dutch coffee bruin. De Druif also has a very nice and quiet terrace on the large sidewalk in front of the building. De Druif was a boarding coffee where the sailors registered to board one of the ships of the Dutch East Indian Company.
