The Trilli di Alberobello in Puglia (Apulia), in the south-east of Italy, are picturesque buildings with conical roof that are concentrated in the Val d'Itria, in a massive way in Alberobello, but scattered throughout the valley. The dark color of the local stone cover contrasts with the whiteness of the lower cylindrical part. In 1996, the Trilli of Alberobello were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its main feature is that the stones are not linked with argamase, mortar or any other means of support or link. This is due to the very historical origin of the city: In the 15th century, an edict of the kingdom of Naples was subject to special taxes every new urban settlement. The Counts of Conversano, owners of the territory in which Alberobello arises, imposed on the settler peasants who were coming to reap the land they built their houses so that they could quickly melt if the regia inspection arrived. The best way to achieve this was to build them to the dry stone, without any support, so that they could be demolished as if they were a sand castle when the King's inspectors arrived. .

The small town of Alberobello is listed as a world heritage by UNESCO. Its monumental area of the trilli, the trullos, a characteristic construction, makes it unique in the world and turns the visit to the town into an almost magical route. You can still see the daily lives of the residents. The older ladies entering the church early in the morning and praying the rosary in the courtyard of their house at 7: 00 p.m.; the chairs in the street to sleep in the hottest hours or to chat with the neighbors when it refreshes in the afternoon; the small orchards and family dinners with the pasta in the form of orechietti (small ears), the rough wine called Primitiva, oil, aromatic herbs and vegetables.
