Vodenica

Charred on the banks of a white water stream, Vodenica is an old water mill, a traditional restaurant and our favorite place to eat some authentic Montenegrin cuisine in Kolasin. The interior is divided into two levels decorated in typical mountain style with chairs and wooden tables, curtains with green and white paintings that frame small windows and authentic ceramics of the country house that cover the walls. The service is very welcoming, friendly and educated, and the menu is limited to a variety of local specialties in Montenegro, such as kacamak, cicvara, traditional prepared meat and fish caught in the nearby river. We recommend to order a selection of local delicacies with serrano ham, cheese and freshly baked bread to begin, followed by delicious country-style roasted meats accompanied by fresh salads of season, perhaps some cicvars and definitely kacamak, a Montenegrin type of mashed potatoes mixed with delicious local cheese, flour and milk. For dessert, there is a Balkan variation of apple cake that tastes like sticky baklava full of apples and cinnamon, and sprinkles with sugar glas. .
