Plaza Mayor

The Plaza Mayor of Salamanca, is an urban space built as the Plaza Mayor de Salamanca, which has over time become the center of the social life of the city. It was built in the period from 1729 to 1756, in Baroque style. The design is by the architect Alberto Churriguera (Royal and San Martín pavilions) and later continued by others with few modifications to the initial project.1 At the beginning of the 19th century he suffered various urban remodeling, until gradually in the middle of the 20th century he was devoid of his gardens, kiosk of central music and public urinaries to remain deafana. It was declared BIC with a Monument category on December 21, 1973.
