Museum and Garden Cerralves

The Foundation and the Serralves Museum is a visit in Porto, a space that brings culture and nature to the outskirts of the city. There we will enjoy interesting works of contemporary art, splendid gardens to get lost and even a pleasant meal in your restaurant. The building of the Serralves Museum was designed by Siza Vieira, a contemporary architect of world fame. The collection of the Museum is made up of direct acquisitions, works in state deposit and private collectors, as well as donations. A truly remarkable room of the Museum is its library. The gardens offer a break in a city with not too many green spaces, as in them we find from romantic lagoons with ducks to large green pastures with cows, through classic and modern fountains and sculptures, or a delicious garden of aromatic plants. The "formal garden" is one of the most notable examples of landscape architecture of the 20th century, which ends in a step leading to a romantic lake, located on a lower plane. It was conceived between 1932 and 1940 by Jacques Gréber (1882-1962), French architect and urbanist, creator of French-style gardens. In the Park there are other points of interest, such as the rosaleda, the Garden of the Sun Clock, the Garden of the Camelias... If we have been hungry after walking, we can enjoy international and Portuguese food at a good price, either in its buffet or with its menus. It is a nice place with views of the garden and a large terrace to eat outdoors, in which we could not be because the climate did not accompany. Free access is available on Sundays from 10: 00 a. m. to 14: 00 p. m.
