The Cyclops Islands

These are eight basalt rocks that emerge from the very narrow sea of the coast and have spectacular sizes and incredible shapes. According to Homer in the Odyssey, these rocks were thrown by Polifemo from the Etna to try to prevent Ulysses from escaping, although instead of giving it, the rocks were nailed into the sea. The reality of these eight rocks is a little simpler, these are basalt blocks that have formed in front of the port of Acci Trezza due to erosion. The largest rock is 70 meters high and at the top it widens and makes it look like the rock is protected by a hat. These rocks at dusk, they have incredible views because at the bottom is the Etna and when the sun is set, the shadows of the rocks bring some incredible reddish colors in the sea.
