The path of land, as indicated by the signs, is a branch of the Royal Leonese Canyon. This is when it starts the hardest stretch of the itinerary, which ends 1,350 km later, in the Puerto del Malagon, at 1,533 m altitude. Also at this point, a panel informs the walkers of the importance of the snow wells of Mount Abandos, built to supply the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and whose purpose was to maintain as long as possible the snow deposited during the season.
