Chair of Philip IIThe chair of Philip II is called a set of steps and other elements carved on a granite canchal at the foot of Las Machotas. According to tradition, he served as an observatory to Philip II during the construction of the monastery of El Escorial, although research carried out in the late 20th century pointed to a pre-Roman origin or even to a historic recreation of the 19th century. |
