Esplanadi

If you are looking for a place in Helsinki that combines history, culture and modernity, The Esplanadi Park is the perfect place for you. Located in central Helsinki, the park was designed by the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel and was opened in 1818. Here you will find an impressive statue of Johan Ludvig Runeberg, a national poet of Finland, the work of the son of the poet Walter Runeberg. There are also many other pieces of public art, such as sculptures and fountains. The east end of the park houses the Kappeli restaurant, which opened its doors in 1867. In front of the restaurant there is an outdoor setting with numerous musical performances. The road to the port begins from here and there are also many modern buildings with exclusive shops such as Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. During the sunny days it is a good place to make picnics and during the Christmas period it is beautifully lit. If you want to feel part of Helsinki's heart you can't miss The Esplanadi Park.
