The Buffator
The Bufador de Peñíscola is a geological accident that connects an opening that opens in the heart of the historical centre, in one of the stone walls that hold the cascade houses of the area with a cave that opens at the base, through which the Mediterranean Sea enters and makes the sound ascend through it and produces a continuous murmur that can be heard at the top. When the Mediterranean is somewhat more moved and is agitated, the sound that emerges by the Buffator increases and it can even happen that the water ascends through the conduit and comes out violently through it, wetting the street and causing a very strong sound. The neighbors of this special corner are already used to the peculiarities of the Bufador de Peñíscola, so they not only look at it normally, but also enjoy these moments when the Mediterranean Sea that bathes the beaches of Peñíscola goes up to the rock and leaves it all wet salted by the force of the waves. The Bufador de Peñíscola is located in a dead end very close to the Museum of the Sea, which is accessed by an entrance to the street. From this street you can also see it in a higher way thanks to a railing that gives visual access to the Buffator. .
