Cathedral of Evora

The Cathedral of Sé de Evora is the former religious seat of Portugal, and the construction of this cathedral, which was considerably fortified in 1280, confirmed the conquest of the Christian Crusades over the Arabs of North Africa. The architectural styles of the Cathedral da Sé were a reflection of the wealth of Evora as a city. The growth of the importance of Evora between the 13th and 14th centuries was the transition of the medieval Gothic cathedral and the incorporation of Romanesque enlargements.
