Its majestic bearing is raised in an incomparable natural framework, about two kilometres from the urban centre of Rascafría, and its origins date back to August 1390, when the one that was the pioneering cartwork of Castilla (and sixth of the Cartjana foundations of Spain) began to be built by the desire of Henry II, who, shortly before he died, said so. His son John I placed the first stone and then several architects intervened in the project - Juan Guas, Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón, Francisco Hurtado and Vicente Acer- until the works were completed in 1442, under the reign of John II. . |

![]() Puente del PerdonIt receives this name, because the prisoners who were taken to the House of the Horca could last appeal their sentence on him. Although it dates from the 14th century, the bridge had to be rebuilt in the 18th century due to the state of deterioration in which it was found by the floodlands of the Lozoya River. It is a construction of granite silery with three half-point arches that served the monks of El Paular to access the paper mill owned by the monastery. |
