Casa Pasteis De Belem

The specialty they make are Belem's cakes, which are some cream pancakes, about 10 centimeters in diameter, made according to a secret recipe that has not been revealed in almost two hundred years and which, supposedly, only three people know on the planet. Both the pastry paste and the cream (made from egg, milk and sugar yolks) inside are made in private, in the so-called "office of the secret" (office do segredo), in a two-day process. They can be eaten both hot and cold, but they are infinitely better hot fresh out of the oven. They are accompanied by sugar and cinnamon powder sprinkled.
