San Marcos bell tower

The best views of the Plaza de San Marcos and the entire historical centre are obtained by raising the almost 100 meters of height of the Campanile, the highest building in Venice. Built between the 9th and 12th century, it worked for centuries as a bell tower of the basilica and a lighthouse, until it collapsed in 1902 because of a cleft for a few years later, to be completely rebuilt, maintaining the original design. To go up to the top where the golden statue of the archangel Gabriel and five large bells is located, you will have to pay for the entry of 8 euros and take a comfortable elevator. Visiting hours: every day from 9: 30am to 17pm.
