Coffee De Dokter

Café De Dokter (The Doctor) was founded on 2 September 1798 by a hospital surgeon near "Binnengasthuis" and since that year was a pub of the Beems family. The sixth generation, Jannie and Jan Beems, have run this pub for 40 years now. De Dokter is the smallest pub in Amsterdam and measures 18 m2. It has a unique atmosphere and decoration, always with the background music of jazz (Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday and the great saxophonists of the time. Several of these famous artists and musicians knew how to find De Dokter over the years. The pub is famous for its brand-name Limburg beer, the delicious wines of the house and the variety of whiskies. The whiskies are shown behind the bar. We have a whiskey from the house for 5.25 euros. As an accompaniment to the drinks they offer a portion of cheese or smoked beef sausage (an exclusive discovery of the owner) in combination with the famous pickles of Amsterdam. .
