Cabo Estaca de Bares

The Bares stake Cape is the northernmost point in Spain, separating the Atlantic from the Cantabrian. It is an absolutely wild coast, bordered by almost vertical cliffs and a sea in constant motion. By dominating this area we find the Lara de Estaca de Bares, located on a mound that extends to the so-called Punta de Estaca de Bares. In addition to the lighthouse, in this impressive site we can also visit ancient water mills, and the ruins of an old American military base that served as a communications station until 1991. It is also considered one of the best points for bird observation in Europe, and has an ornithological station from which to see many types of migratory birds, especially from September to December.
