Basilica of San Petronio

The Basilica of St. Petronius dedicated to the patron of Bologna was to be the most imposing church in the world until the papal authority stopped its construction by seeing that it would overcome the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome. Finally, and although it ended up being the fifth largest in the world, it is worth visiting its immense interior to see several masterpieces such as the mystical marriage of Santa Caterina and the frescoes of Giovanni de Modena, in addition to its huge polychrome windows.
