Bars in Lisbon
![]() Modern Tavern4.8It has been open since March 2012 and is considered one of the best restaurants in Lisbon. Its owner is Galician, Luís Carballo, who settled in the Lusa capital four years ago. All that appears on the table is to share and among the peculiarities of the house is the possibility to cover with a gin tonic. The card has 20 different dishes that reflect the mixture of the Galician cuisine, the lift and even an Asian touch. The cod salad with hedgehog caviar is one of the classic of the Modern Tavern, as well as black rice or brushed tuna, for some the best in the city. There are scallops, broken eggs with cod and chistorra and octopus to the feira. On the terrace and in the small bar where you are waiting to sit at the table you also have simpler and smaller tapas. The kitchen closes at midnight and the bar is open until 2 in the morning. Luís Carballo wanted to innovate and bring fresh air to the Portuguese restoration and in the first year already won the Time Out award as the best project. In his tavern he wants everyone to share food, table, music and all the time. |
![]() Tapa Bucho4.7It is one of the most recent premises in the city where you can find a good and very affordable variety of spikes and rations. Its owners, three young Portuguese with great enthusiasm and courage, have achieved a good combination of Portuguese and Spanish proposals. A fusion meal from the two countries, as they define it. It is in the Upper Quarter and is a small fully remodeled and tastefully decorated tasca. Each day they have different proposals of cold and hot spikes, which cost 1.6 and 2.2 euros. One of his specialties in the Spot of Portobello. The mushrooms are accompanied by confected tomato, ham, bacon and cheese from the island. Among the rations are the eggs scrambled with asparagus and farinheira (typical Portuguese sausage) and their tortillas, especially that of the house (Tapa Bucho) with salami and mushrooms. You can also find fried potato shell, peixinhos da horta (green Jew bounced in a storm mass) or ox tail. Only Star Damm beer is sold and the house wine (8 euros the bottle) is an excellent option to accompany the tapas. |
![]() Tagide4.0The Tágide is one of the most emblematic restaurants in Lisbon and recently opened on the lower floor a new space dedicated to the tapestry. It has a fantastic view over the Baixa lisboeta and is located in the heart of Chiado. This space is much more informal than the restaurant but maintains its elegance. The prices are very affordable (with menus at food time from 8.5 euros) and the tapas are very elaborate. They work a lot with national condors, like sardines or mackerel. We find tapas especially Portuguese, such as eggs scrambled with asparagus and farinheira (Portuguese sausage) or Azeitão cheese. There is also a good offer of dishes that also work as rations if you choose to share the food. The desserts are equally attractive, with the famous cream cake with cinnamon ice cream or pumpkin candy. The good service and kindness of the employees also plays in your favor. |
![]() Carmo4.6The Largo do Carmo, one of the most beautiful and historic squares in Lisbon, has been an interesting place to cover for a year. O Carmo is known for its sophisticated tapas and its elegant decoration but without losing the informality. The concept of this restaurant is to offer its customers a moment of fun and to share what comes to the table. The dishes are abundant and stand out the peixinhos da horta (green Jew bounced with tempura sauce), the shrimp to the garlic and the pica-pau (beef cut into small pieces in whose sauce the acid taste of the pickles cannot be missed). Chef Hugo Landeiro gives a very special touch to every cover that has become very famous in the area. Cheese, chorizo, chorizo with apple... all very Portuguese proposals. |
![]() Five Jacks4.0The classics never fail and as such, the Five Jotes restaurant is a good choice to enjoy a tapas meal. The peculiarity of this Osborne group is that it is located on the 7th floor of The English Court of Lisbon, the first Five Gourmet Jotes of Portugal. It has a top quality card and is not missing the best 100% pure Iberian pork products of acorn, identified by the brand Five Jotes. In addition to the famous Iberian acorn ham, you can taste a salmejo with hard egg, ham croquettes, broken eggs, Iberian solomillo or a fried cod with shrimp sauce. The card is rich and varied in spikes and rations and has menus, especially for the time of eating. The wine letter is equally interesting and varied. As you are on the top floor you can see a good view over the city of the seven hills. |
![]() Petiscos no Bairro4.0The decoration of this restaurant is the first thing that draws attention, with typical Portuguese tablecloths (with the Barcelas roosters) and very striking and colorful pieces. The ground imitates the typical luse road and on the walls are printed images of Lisbon. This place attracts many tourists who walk through the well-known Rua de Atalaia in the heart of Barrio Alto. There are national tapas such as fried collars, octopus or clams. The sardines are not missing either, one of the most sold dishes. Always accompanied by wine (a glass or a bottle) and especially good company. |
![]() Chapitô4.2With an impressive view over the Tajo River, Chapitô is a concert place; a theatre or circus tent; a terrace for tapas and canes and a restaurant. |
![]() Artir Wine Bar4.3It opened in December 2009 and in these four years it has been positioned as a welcoming and informal place. A bar where you can enjoy a good wine and national tapas. Cod cakes with tomato rice, chorizo roast in brandy and lisboet chicken milling are some of the most requested dishes by customers. In this place was previously the Bartis, one of the first reference bars of the Barrio Alto. The current owners, also owners of Lisbon à Noite and Sinal Vermelho, have bet on the tapas and rations with national products to make them known to the Portuguese and the tourists. It's a nice place, which has some tradition of the old jazz bar. The walls keep the musical instruments and portraits and the famous chicken toast (sandwich) is not missing in the letter, for some the best served throughout Lisbon. |
![]() Noo Bai Café4.3Its colorful terrace and views that are appreciated from the view of Adamastor ensure a pleasant meal. Not only tapas but also light dishes or other traditional dishes such as cod and Sundays are well known for its brunch. The environment and environment encourage fun combinations such as tapas with caipiriña or mojito. One of the specialities of the house is the muffin filled with Noo bai, a cheese paste with onion and a special touch. The "Estrella Damm" beer and for taping are not missing the wafers in vinegar or the alheira croquettes (typical Portuguese sausage). |
The Portuguese call their palsy tapas, which are local and regional delights that are served in portions the size of a bite in the same way as their Spanish neighbours do.
