Acueduct de Água de Prata

The Aqueduct da Água de Prata enters the city of Evora from the north-east. This monumental aqueduct was designed by Francisco de Arruda (more famous for the Tower of Belém of Lisbon) in order to transport clean water to the city. His works were completed in the 1530s. In the final part of the aqueduct, in the Rua do Cano, a district of houses, shops and cafes begins between its beautiful arches.
